A little over a year ago now (December, 2016), a friend of mine, David, called to tell me about a program that he heard on the radio. He was listening to a show called “In The Market”, hosted by Janet Parshall that is broadcast on Moody Radio. She was interviewing the author of the book, “My One Word” by Mike Ashcraft. In it, he suggests that coming up with a list of New Year Resolutions is generally not very productive. Instead, he suggests that selecting just one word to focus on for the year has far greater success, than the list of resolutions which rarely makes it beyond the first month of the year.
He (David) told me that he had selected “Purpose” for his word.
Not sure how long it was after he told me his word that I came up with mine – Inspiration. I want to be inspired and I want to inspire others. Focusing on that word for this past year is one of the major reasons why I started up my broadcasting again and started with Constitution Party Talk Radio.
MY ONE WORD OF THE YEAR, 2024??
Up until two years ago, for about 4 years, I implemented “My One Word of the Year.” Interestingly, as I was about to post this on my blog, when I discovered the first article that I wrote on the subject. It tells how I discovered the “One Word” principle, and that my word for 2018 was “Discipline”. It was the second word, my first was “Inspiration” in 2017. After using the One Word strategy for 2 years, I found that I was far more successful in my personal growth with a word of the year, than working on a “New Year’s Resolution,” which I was never really all that successful beyond a few of weeks.
So, I decided around the first of December 2023 that I was going to choose “My One Word for the Year” again. By about the 3rd week, I had 5 words written on my white board that seemed like a good list of potential words that I would focus on for the upcoming year.
There have been a couple of books in my life that have had a “Life Changing” influence on me. It’s all about getting better information. I think to a large extent, most of us know when we are confronted with the truth. However, I think in the category of “most of us” that most of them either ignore or try to hide from the truth. I would like to say that I am in the category of never hiding or ignoring the truth, but, then that would be lie. I will say that when confronted with new information that I have an interest in and I’m not sure about its validity, I will do my research, and those who know me, know this to be true.
I say all of that to say that there is a book that I have found to be true, “Wild at Heart.” It hit the core of my being and had a life changing impact upon me. And I promise you, if you give it a chance, it will have an awesome, positive impact on you as well
I was just reading an article about how Oregon is dealing with a recent "Minimum Wage" Law.
Oregon grapples with consequences of landmark minimum wage law
I truly just don't understand how people can be so ignorant about how our government "Fixing" living wages causes prices to go up and I am totally baffled by those who don't understand that when wages go up, the prices of goods go up. and if the prices of goods don't go up, then jobs are lost.
The Church Has Failed - in teaching against sexual immorality of every form.
Recently, the Illinois Family Institute released an article about a Catholic Church which "fired" an openly gay man from being the choir director.

“In fact, every American colony, from its foundation down to the revolution…did openly, by the whole course of its laws and institutions, support and sustain, in some form, the Christian religion; and almost invariably gave a peculiar sanction to some of its fundamental doctrines. And this has continued to be the case in some of the states down to the present period, without the slightest suspicion, that it was against the principles of public law, or republican liberty.” ~~ Joseph Story (1833) |
For those of you who believe that these United States of America was created as a secular society by our Constitution have no idea as to the REAL HISTORY of this country. While certainly, not everyone associated with the Constitution and the founding of this country can be labeled as “Christian,” it was generally accepted that this was in fact, a Christian Nation.
